UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service) processes all undergraduate applications to UK universities. For Indian students targeting September 2026 entry, here are all the critical deadlines you need to diary — along with what happens if you miss them.
All UCAS Deadlines — 2026 UK University Entry
- 15 October 2025: Deadline for Oxford, Cambridge, and most Medicine, Dentistry, and Veterinary Science courses at any university
- 29 January 2026: Equal consideration deadline for all other UK courses. Applications submitted by this date are considered equally by universities.
- 30 June 2026: Late application deadline. Applications submitted after 29 January but before 30 June are still processed, but universities are under no obligation to consider them if they have already filled their places.
- 5 July 2026: Extra opens (if you were not successful in your initial choices)
- August 2026: A-Level results day + Clearing opens for students without confirmed places
Note: International students (including Indian applicants) apply through the same UCAS system as UK students. The same deadlines apply.
Clearing and Extra
- Extra: If you applied by the January deadline but haven't received any offers or have declined all your offers, Extra allows you to add another choice from late February to July 5.
- Clearing: Opens after A-Level results day in August. If you don't have a confirmed place, Clearing lets you find courses with remaining spaces at universities across the UK. Many excellent universities participate in Clearing.
Key Tips for Indian Applicants
- UCAS allows a maximum of 5 choices per application — use them strategically across safety, match, and reach universities
- Your Personal Statement is the UCAS equivalent of an SOP — maximum 4,000 characters (approximately 650 words)
- Universities make decisions as applications are received — apply early within each deadline window
- If applying for Oxford or Cambridge, they may require additional admissions tests (BMAT, LNAT, CAT, etc.) — check specific requirements early
- Non-EU international students must apply for the UK Student Visa separately after receiving offers
